2014: A Year of Milestones and Magic!

ribbontree

Wow, what an amazing and busy year it has been! I’ve loved every minute of working with my wonderful clients and helping make their real estate dreams come true. It’s an honour to be trusted at such a monumental time in their lives.

To all of you who continue to refer and think of me for all of your real estate needs, I sincerely thank you!

Top of my Game

The year has included many milestones, but the one I’m most proud of is receiving the Royal LePage President’s Gold Award for making it to the top 6th to 10th percentile of my residential marketplace.

I’ll be harnessing the momentum behind this award to continue growing my team in 2015.

New Look!

To prepare for a new year with a new look, I’ve launched updated branding on all of my business and promotional materials.

Be sure to look for my signs around town and let me know what you think!

Appreciating You

As you’ve heard from me before, my business wouldn’t be anywhere without the tremendous support I receive from all of you.

To show how much you mean I held my second annual Canadian Client Appreciation Breakfast this summer, where I was joined by those who’ve helped shape my first two years in real estate.
As always, my two worlds continue to collide, with much of my business coming from connections I made through my past career at TJX Canada.
I will continue to do whatever I can to stay connected with those who mean the most to me, my incredible clients. Your dedicated support is so valuable.
I hope that everyone has a fabulous Christmas and holiday season with their loved ones. I wish you all nothing but the best in the new year.
I look forward to working my magic for you in 2015!

Holiday Wishes From My Assistant

As it has been five years since stepping into an office as a true employee, it’s difficult to believe my luck! I’m a mother of three and have spent much of my last five years inside my house, and as beautiful as it was I was ready to take on some new challenges!

Every once in a while I would peruse the employment pages looking for something that could work for me and be something I could enjoy and came across Elaine’s ad. I knew it would be right, I knew it – this was like magic!

After interviews and meeting with Elaine I couldn’t wait to get working. I love working with our clients, I love making everything easier on them. I love how Elaine works and I believe we work really well together as a team. Making clients smile and knowing we made their dreams come true – now that is magic!

Wishing you all a merry Christmas and wonderful new year.

To Decorate, or not to Decorate

Just because we’re in the midst of the holiday season doesn’t mean that real estate should come to a complete halt. People still buy and sell houses during this time of year for all types of reasons.
Many of my clients that are preparing their homes for sale ask me the question, “Can I put my tree up and decorate even though buyers will be viewing my home?”
My answer is simply this: Of course you should decorate your home inside and out for Christmas, but I also follow with the suggestions listed below.
When your home is listed for sale, the key is to minimize the amount and type of decorations that are on display. Try not to go overboard; when we’re selling we have to appeal to the senses of the masses.
Also, it’s imperative to de-personalize our decorations as well. We still need to keep in mind that buyers from all walks of life will be in our home. So we need to be careful to avoid a spotlight on any particular religion or beliefs.
Here are the key pointers:
1. Try to not obstruct views of the front-exterior of your home with lawn decorations.
2. Ensure that any outdoor lights on your home’s exterior are in good working order and hung neatly.
3. Have those exterior lights on in the evenings, as it makes your home stand out, and lights up the walk to your front door. This welcomes buyers and makes your address more visible at night.
4. A nice festive wreath hanging on your door-exterior is nice and decorative. Holly berries (real or fake) add a nice pop of red.
5. A holiday-appropriate welcome mat outside the front door is a nice touch.
6. Inside, remember that the most important, longest lasting first impression is made on the buyer as soon as they open that front door.
7. If your home is open-concept, ensure you’re not blocking the views.
8. If you’re putting up a tree, try to choose the least filled space in the house to place it.
9. Remember that buyers are interested in buying your house, not your “stuff.” So ensure that you have not completely disguised/masked/covered-up your architectural features with decorations.
10. Avoid the use of too many colours with your decorations. Using more than two or three main colours is simply distracting and is visually cluttered.
Best wishes to you and your family this holiday season!
