Valentine Glitter Candle Holders
For the perfect gift that doubles as a perfect decoration for any home The Elaine Jones Team thinks that you should try making Valentine Glitter Candle Holders They’re cute but simple and can bring light into any room.
What you’ll need: Mason Jars, Foam Heart Stickers, Acrylic Paint (White & Pink), Mod Podge, Painters Tape and Glitter (White & Pink)
- Use the foam heart to trace and cut out the heart from painter’s tape. Tape the heart to the mason jar.
- Paint one jar with white paint and one with pink paint. Once completely dry use mod podge (around heart shape) then coat with glitter (white glitter on white mason jar and pink glitter on pink mason jar).
- Wait for the glitter to dry then remove the tape to reveal the heart shaped glitter votive.
- Add ribbon as a finishing touch and place a tea light candle inside.
Homemade Heart Bath Bombs
These bath bombs make the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day and are so easy to make! Who wouldn’t love to get a bath bomb? Especially one made personally from someone they love. Here’s how you can make one.
What you’ll need: Baking Soda, Citric Acid, Fine Epsom Salts, Jojoba Oil, Essential Oil (Scent of your Choice), Red Food Colouring, Witch Hazel, Mesh Strainer, Spray Bottle, Silicone Heart Mold, and Plastic Gloves
- Place a mesh strainer over a large bowl and pour in 1 cup of baking soda, ½ cup citric acid and ¼ cup of fine Epsom salts. Sift to remove any lumps.
- Slowly add ½ tablespoon of jojoba oil to the dry mixture. Add 10 drops of essential oil and 1-2 drops of food colouring.
- Wearing plastic gloves, mix the oils and food coloring through the dry mixture, until it is well incorporated and pink.
- Once mixture is blended, slowly add witch hazel, one spritz at a time, until the bath bomb mixture sticks together when squeezed. (8-10 spritzes will be needed- don’t make it too wet or it’ll fizz)
- Pack the slightly damp mixture tightly into the heart shape molds. Be sure to pack the mixture well, fitting in as much as possible into each mold.
- Allow drying overnight then remove the bath bombs from the molds. They should be hard. Wrap bath bombs tightly in plastic wrap and store in a cool dry place.
Personalized Scratch Cards
Homemade cards can show your loved ones how much you care about them. Want to write a message that only your loved ones can see? Make your very own scratch card with a secret message for them to discover! Here’s how you can make one:
What you’ll need: Cardstock, Measuring Spoons, Dish Soap, Acrylic Paint, Paintbrush, Scissors, Pen, White Crayon, Plastic Cup, Popsicle Stick
- Draw hearts for where you will write your secret message on the card.
- Write your secret message in the hearts on the card. You could do a message or secret gift options.
- Fill in your heart with white crayon, coloring heavily over your writing.
- Thoroughly mix 2 tsp. acrylic paint with 1 tsp. dish soap.
- Fill in the hearts with your paint mixture using a small paintbrush and let it dry.
- When you gift it, don’t forget to include a nickel — or quarter, if you’re feeling extra generous!
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
What you’ll need: 16 ounces of milk chocolate chips, 2 tablespoons of shortening, 1 pound of fresh strawberries with leaves
- In a double boiler, melt the chocolate and shortening, stirring occasionally until smooth. Holding them by the toothpicks, dip the strawberries into the chocolate mixture.
- Insert toothpicks into the tops of the strawberries
- Turn the strawberries upside down and insert the toothpick into styrofoam for the chocolate to cool
Conversation Heart Bark
What you’ll need: 8 oz chocolate candy melts, 4 oz bright pink vanilla candy melts, Conversation Hearts
- Spread a piece of parchment paper out over a cookie sheet.
- Melt chocolate candy melts in a microwaveable bowl, microwaving for about 30 seconds at a time and stirring each time so that the chocolate doesn’t burn, until fully melted and smooth.
- Repeat the same melting process with the pink candy melts.
- When both kinds of candy melts are melted, spread the chocolate into an even layer over the parchment paper, being careful not to make it too thin.
- Quickly drizzle the pink candy melts over the chocolate, then use a toothpick or spatula to swirl it through the chocolate.
- Quickly drop conversation hearts onto the chocolate before it hardens.
- Allow chocolate to hard completely, then cut up.
